Unlike in the yester years, today, security of sensitive data has become a major concern among the individuals as well as the organizations, both big and small. This is due to incidences of data leakage over memory sticks. Hence, encrypting memory sticks has become very crucial in order to prevent any leakage of confidential information. If you encrypt memory sticks in a proper manner, then it will not be possible for anyone to read the data that is stored in them, except those who know the right password. There are two ways of encrypting memory sticks, namely, hardware encryption and software encryption. Hardware encryption makes use of special chips for encrypting and decrypting the data. Today, you will come across several large manufacturers of memory sticks who offer secure memory sticks with embedded hardware encryption. On the other hand, software-based encryption encrypts data which is stored on a memory stick and decrypts the same when any authorized user requests it.The term memory stick references a removable flash memory card architecture launched and popularized by Sony in the later part of 1998 and interchangeably has also been used to identify a USB port-based flash drive that acts as a storage media device for various computer platforms.
By now, you must have got an overall idea about memory sticks, isn't it? So if you have yet not encrypted your memory stick, do it immediately so as to prevent any type of data leakage.
