Price enquiry Kingston memory, PC2100 - 266MHz or PC3200 - 400MHz?
I recently bought 1GB PC2100 KTD4400 266MHz on Ebay for £11 and was sent 1GB PC3200 KTD8300 400MHZ, I then found out that it will run along side my other 1GB memory but at the 266MHz speed, which is fine with me. Then I checked the price difference at Insight UK, KTD8300 £33.34 KTD4400 £40.24 can anyone explain why there is a £7 difference if both memory sticks are the same except for the speed, I would of thought the faster one would of been dearer, or is the KTD4400 a better design than the other one and have I been ripped off, lol.
Older RAM = more expensive because they tend to stay in stock for longer periods of time, making it costly to keep it in inventory.
It's not uncommon to see older obsolete RAM being sold for much higher prices than the common DDR2 DIMM nowadays.
for e.g you're paying 40 pounds per gigabyte of DDR 2100 RAM -- but do a google search for the more modern DDR2 6400 RAM and compare the price -- you'll see what I mean.
