A READYBOOST QUESTION PLEASE ANSWER?
Ok i have windows 7 on an a rather old dv8000 which is ddr memory only so i am limited to 2gb ram , if i put a 32gb flash pen in the usb and format it to EXFAT would i be right in thinking i can use 31gb of that flash pen as addtional ram or cache and will this speed up my performance much ? I have tried 8gb in exfat and it lets me use about 7gb of the pen and the performance is very much increased .
Ready-boost does speed up your system, but not in the same way Ram will. Ready-boost will increase your virtual memory.
Virtual memory = when your computer needs more memory then "you have Ram" it will start using your hard-drive as memory...but because a hard-drive is slow (moving parts)..it takes a while to store & retrieve that memory to when the computer needs it.
Ready-Boost will allow that virtual memory to write and read from your flash-drive (no moving parts and faster). So yes it will increase the speed of your computer.
