8mb Playstation Memory Cards Articles and News
Online gaming has taken the world by storm. Online gamers and gaming centers are just about everywhere. The popularity of online games is understandable, as it adds a new dimension to the world of gaming. People from all over the globe would be able to play with or against each other in a virtual world. Online PC games have been well received by the gaming world. The thought of fighting an opponent from another country in a virtual gaming world never fails to stir the interest of the avid gamer. Sega made this dream a reality with the launch of the Dreamcast, as the console made it possible for gamers to connect and play games online until its collapse. Sony filled the market niche with the release of the PS2 network adapter that now makes it possible to hook your PS2 to the Internet.
The PS2 network adapter makes it easy to connect your PS2 console to the Internet. This gives gamers the added dimension of playing with other players online. The first game that took advantage of this unique feature is Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3.
The network adapter requires at least 137 KB of space from an 8MB memory card, and works with both dial-up and broadband Internet connections. The PS2 network adapter will work with just about any provider and it would be best to contact your Internet service provider (ISP) for any details about installation and configuration.
The PS2 network adapter is connected to the expansion bay at the rear of the PS2. A network adapter start up disc is inserted into the console to configure ISP settings to connect to the Internet. The memory card stores the network data and ISP settings. Be reminded that ISP settings saved from a particular console could not be used on another PS2 console.
This is a welcome addition for PS2 fans. Microsoft's Xbox may have been the first to offer online gaming capabilities with the Xbox live, but the service requires a monthly subscription and is an added unnecessary cost to the gamer. Xbox live offers the gamer the chance to experience playing his favorite Xbox games online, but with the added cost of a monthly subscription. The PS2 network adapter does away with all the hassles and added expenses of monthly subscriptions and provides the same thrill as well.
Many gaming fans consider the PS2 network adapter a wise investment. Football fanatics will surely enjoy playing Madden NFL online, with gamers from different states enjoying the rich and intense game play that online playing gives. A USB keyboard would be an added bonus to the online gaming experience as this will enable users to chat with each other even during online play.
The PS3 may come with online capabilities as well, but requires an ultra-fast Internet connection to completely enjoy. Gamers have retroactively gone back to playing their PS2 games due to the availability of their favorite games online that was not possible before.
I have even more reviews and information pertaining to PS2 Network Adapters at my website http://www.ps2networkadapter.org. I will also let you in on a little secret: Where to get them cheaper than anyplace else on the web;) Many thanks for reading, and good luck!
