AM3 socket Hardware, whens it actually going to be out? is DDR3 worth it?
Just a small question i've been looking into. But when is all the Actual AM3 hardware coming out! (and by actual i dont mean am+ motherboards taht will be compatible with am3 processors). Just as an extra i was also wondering what is the differences between ddr2 & ddr3? what makes ddr3 more expensive, and is worth waiting a few month before i build a new PC so i can get an am3 motherboard with said RAM instead of just building an am2+ model with ddr2
DDR3 is essentially DDR2 but runs at faster speeds and draws less power, I think its worth it if you have the money, beforehand it was only used for graphics cards but the jump has been made to start using it on motherboards as well, the AM3 CPU is coming out around Q3 or Q4 if delayed of 2009, currently is marked Feb. 2009, as for the hardware, no info on new motherboard releases but they'll most likeley be released during the release of the AM3 CPU's, as for waiting a few months, thats going to be a long few months, if you have an okay rig right now then i'd definitely wait
