Corrupted CF cards? What's going on?
I have three CF memory cards. I can format the cards in my camera no problem, but windows insists they are corrupted when I put them in my card reader slots on my computer. I can't format them, either. They were fine until a few days ago, but suddenly ALL THREE of them are supposedly corrupted. Did Windows do this or what's going on? I find it odd that both my main cards AND my barely used stock card would just go and die all on the same day.
Call Lexar and ask them about it. While you may not have a Lexar CF card, they may be a good resource for troubleshooting this problem
Have you attempted reading the CF cards using a different computer? Using the USB cord from your camera to the computer?
It may well be that something has happened to the card reader on your specific computer. It is not a Windows problem per se.
I use CF cards exclusively and can read them on any Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X operating systems with no problems.
