DDR2 533mhz 1GB Memory Quick Tips
Shoud i have 2 x 1gb 533mhz and a 1gb 800mhz or just 2 x 1gb 800mhz?
I currently have 2x533mhz 1gb memory sticks so should i a) buy and add another 800mhz 1gb stick for total of 3gb mem. Will it still work and run at 800mhz?
b) Or should i just bin the 533mhz's and just buy 2 800mhz memory and stick with 2gb's?
Which option is better? a) or b)???
BTW i have windows vista 32 bit so i won't go over 3gb's and i it is all ddr2. i also have dual channel config and up to 4 dimm slots.

In reply to mi dengYou computer is only going to run at the SLOWEST ram speed no matter which way you do it. For example if you use 533mhz, and you mix in 800mhz ram then ALL of the ram still runs at 533mhz.
If you bought 800mhz first then put in 533mhz, ALL of them run at 533mhz again. Its because your ram can't run at two different speeds and since 533mhz is not fast enough, the computer automatically decreases the 800mhz to 533mhz so that all the rams run at 1 speed.
