Will a Scythe Ninja Mini CPU Heatsink fit in my Dell Dimension 3000?
I bought a Scythe Ninja Mini CPU heatsink for my Dell Dimension 3000 computer. It says its compatible with socket 478 processors, but I wasn't able to get it to fit on properly, so I put the old one back one. Am I an idiot, that didn't a. buy a compatible part or b. try mounting it correctly, or does dell use a non standard Heatsink?
Dell uses both a non-standard heatsink as well as a non-standard bracket on the cpu mounting holes

So if you remove that bracket, you should be able to get the Ninja mini on there since the motherboard should have the standard hole pattern for your bracket (the top one here) http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/productimage/35-185-046-04.jpg
And you will probably have to remove the shroud that forces the case airflow through the heatsink and out the case
