Ram Upgrade Problems?!?!?
I have been running 640 megs of RAM for a while now. It sucks. So I ordered a 1GB stick. It's PC3200, just like the 512, not the same company or anything. I know about incompatibilities, how they can cause errors, so I took both my 128 and my 512 out, put the 1gig in, and tried to start. BIOS told me about the change, I did a memory scan, no errors. I then continued on to Windows XP. It went to start-up, but when it went to login, I got a BSOD. Same with Windows 7, except it just locked up instead. The slot works, I'm sure of that, the stick gets no errors, but I cannot get it to work! Can someone please tell me what to do? Thanks.
NOTES:
I can start it in safe mode with the 1gb in.

Hi, the issue is the 512 stick is actually "slowing down" to PC2700, as I work on these daily, it appears that your new stick has either an incompatibility with the systems CAS Latency speed threshold, which is 2/2.5, or the DIMM is not capable of running PC2700 speeds. Both are probable so I'd try and find some PC2700 on eBay.
